Willis & LaFrance Duel As Kent Holds On To Top Wi-Hi

The Kent County boys lacrosse team opened their season up with a win Monday afternoon when traveled to Salisbury and topped Wi-Hi 12-8. The win improves the Trojans to 1-0, while the loss drops the Indians to 0-1.

The Tribe would jump out to an early lead as Trevor LaFrance would get the ball in the X position, work his way right in front of the net and fire one home over the keepers near post shoulder. The Trojans then settled in at the other end of the field. Chas Willis would get his team on the board after cutting across the crease and beating the keeper far post. Then shortly after that, they would add scores from BK Saunders and Devin Thompson as they would take a 4-1 lead after the first. Willis would continue to add to the score book in the second period, racking up 2 more of his team high 6 goals in that period alone. Kent would built a 5 goal lead before LaFrance would help spark his team. The junior would cut across the crease and appear to be headed behind the net when just at the last second, flip a shot behind his back and over the keepers shoulder for the score. The Tribe would be down 6-2 at half, but LaFrance was just getting started, scoring 4 more times in the 3rd quarter to pull the Indians within 8-6 headed to the 4th. There, Willis would help bring it home for the Trojans, add a couple more scores to put the game away.

Wi-Hi returns to action on Thursday when they travel to play Worcester Prep, while Kent County host Bo Manor on Tuesday.
