UPDATE: Suspect in stolen check investigation turns herself in

Members of the Rehoboth Beach Police Department say Sade E. Marquez, also known as Sade E. Mains, 30, has been arrested following a stolen check investigation.

Police say Marquez, of New York, NY, turned herself into the Rehoboth Beach Police Department on Tuesday.  Police say they had been looking for Marquez since March 14, when felony forgery and theft warrants were issued for her arrest.

According to investigators, on or around January 19, while inside a local business, Marquez reportedly stole a personal check from a desk.  According to police, upon realizing that the check was missing, the male owner contacted a bank and learned that the check had been written out to Country Boy Fabrication and General Contractors, a business partly owned by Marquez. That stolen check was reportedly obtained from the bank and it showed the man’s signature had been forged on the check, which was cashed for more than $1,000.00.

Police say they asked for help identifying Marquez through Facebook, and as an apparent result, multiple tips were received.

Marquez apparently eventually contacted the Rehoboth Beach Police agreeing to turn herself in.

She has been charged with one count of second-degree Forgery, a felony, and one count of Misdemeanor Theft. Marquez was reportedly released after posting a $1500.00 secured bail.
