UPDATE: Passenger dies following Wednesday crash in Lincoln

UPDATE:

Members of the Delaware State Police say Elie Evans, a passenger in the Ford Focus that was involved in the serious crash on Wednesday, March 16, on Cedar Creek Road, Lincoln, has died as a result of his injuries.

Police say Evans was declared dead on Thursday, at the Christiana Hospital where he had been admitted since the crash.

This incident remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Investigators have released new details in a Wednesday afternoon crash in Lincoln, that injured several people.

Delaware State Police say just after 4:40 PM, 50-year-old Linda Evans, of Dover was in a 2010 Ford Focus southbound on Cedar Creek Road – Route 30, near Benson Road, stopped, waiting to turn left into a private drive. At the same time, Police say a 17-year-old Milford boy was driving a 1998 Ford F-150 southbound on Route 30, coming up to the Focus, when he apparently didn’t see it, and hit the back, causing significant damage. Both vehicles apparently stayed in the southbound lanes after the impact.

Police say Linda Evans and her 3-year-old son were both properly restrained, and were taken from the scene by EMS to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, where they were treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries. Two passengers from the Focus, Louester Evans, 77, and her husband Elie A. Evans, 78, both of Lincoln, were reportedly rushed by EMS to MMH, where Louester was admitted in serious condition, while Elie was later airlifted to Christiana Medical Center where he is admitted in critical condition.

Investigators say the 17-year-old was wearing a seat belt when he crashed, and didn’t report an injuries, however a 15-year-old girl passenger in the car, who was also wearing their seat belt, was brought by EMS to MMH, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and released.

State Police say Route 30 between Fleatown Road and Benson Road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated. No charges have been filed at this time.
