UPDATE: K-9s scans wrapped up at Wicomico Co. Schools

A local school system says they had k-9 scans at several of their buildings, Friday morning.
The Wicomico County Public Schools says on Friday, the school system collaborated with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, to perform K-9 scans for controlled dangerous substances at several schools, including James M. Bennett High, Wicomico Middle, Mardela Middle and High, Pittsville Elementary and Middle, and Choices Academy.
The dogs apparently did alert for contraband during several of the searches. Those investigations are apparently on-going at this time.
Officials say the scans are done from time to time, in an effort to ensure that schools are safe and drug free. During the scans, the school system says students were brought outside, and resumed regular activities once wrapped up.
Wicomico County Public Schools says all went well during the scans, and that they appreciated everyone’s cooperation. School Officials say the scans were conducted thoroughly and professionally.
School officials say students were not allowed to be signed out by parents at these schools, while the scans were taking place.
