United Way honors community leaders

More than 300 CEOs, campaign coordinators, and community Leaders from across the Eastern Shore gathered Friday at University of Maryland Eastern Shore to honor a number of deserving volunteers.

This all part of the 71st annual meeting and community leaders celebration held by the United Way.

The most prestigious award given out, the Jim Barrett Community Leadership Award. The award is given annually to the person United Way feels exemplifies the qualities of philanthropic leadership.

This year’s winner, our very own Kathleen McLain, who is the general manager here at 47 ABC.

“It makes you want to be sure you give the best that you can,” McLain said after winning the award. “This a whole team effort, this just isn’t a Kathleen McLain deal, this is an entire 47 ABC and team, we work together for a project and we’re able to give back a lot to the community.”
