The Beast of the East! Poco Heads To Final 4

The Pocomoke girls basketball team is headed to the final four of the 1A after the Warriors topped Cambridge SD 62-32 in the Regional Championship game on Saturday. The Warriors will now face Southern-G on Friday at Towson University.

The Vikings would strike first early after Paige Bleyer would get loose in transition for a lay in. Dynaisha Christian would have the answer for the home team, connecting on a couple buckets underneath. Bleyer would then connect on a short mid range jumper late in the first quarter. Pocomoke though would still ride a 8 point lead into the second quarter. There, Christian really got going. She scored on back to back possessions, including an and 1 to push their lead to over 10. Then Tymera Deshields would find her stroke, connecting on a shot in the lane, followed by a long ball. Christian continued to regulate the paint as she finished with a game high 24 points. The lead would stretch to 50-18. Shayla Jones would find herself in the scorers column after getting out in transition for some scores early in the 3rd, and the game was well in hand early in the second half.
