Sussex Central Rolls Past Parkside

The Sussex Central baseball team picked up a nice pair of road wins Saturday in the Parkside Holiday Tournament when they defeated the Rams 11-1. The win improves the Golden Knights to 2-1, while the loss drops the Rams to 1-2.
The Golden Knights would plate 2 early runs to take the lead. The Rams would answer by working a runner to 3rd, before he was finally able to come home off a balk. Pitching and errors then began to haunt Parkside. The Golden Knights showed their patience at the plate and ran the bases well to continually get runners in scoring position. 3 pass balls allowed for scores to come in as Central would grab control of the game. Trey Toppin then ripped a RBI single to deep center to push the lead to 5-1. The Golden Knights were done just yet, as catcher Deron Doherty would get into one, and blast it to center field for a RBI double. The lead would stretch to 8 before the Golden Knights began to go to some of their reserves. Austin Littletinn would put the finishing touches on the win after legging out an infield RBI single.
