Somerset County to host tourism summit

Later this month Maryland state tourism officials will partner up with those in Somerset County to help area businesses prepare for the 2016 tourism season. They’ll be holding a tourism summit later this month on Wednesday March 23rd.
It’ll be free for local businesses and organizations but you’ll still need to register to reserve a spot. The event will feature workshops focused on topics such as being prepped for the tourism season and an often confusing topic. Social media.
Julie Widdowson, the director of Somerset County Tourism told 47 ABC, “I think we all need to understand it better, and I include myself in there too. Social media is such a great tool because it is largely free, it’s readily available, so it’s a great avenue for people to promote their business, let’s say that be an inn or a restaurant, their event, their park, their bed and breakfast,”
