Seaford receives comprehensive downtown vision plan

Today Seaford received the final recommendations for the downtown vision. Community Design Solutions, a nationwide consulting firm, presented their reccomendations to city officials and the public for consideration moving forward with the downtown’s economic development.
Trisha Newcomer, who is in charge of economic development for Seaford, says that the presentation was a comprehensive look at the development of the downtown area with both short term and long term reccomendations.
Some of the ideas presented included constructing new buildings altogether, but also repurposing vacant buildings. The presenters from Community Design Solutions spent a few days in Seaford, gathering information from locals while also implementing their outside knowledge on how to grow the city. Some things were obvious needs, such as developing the waterfront along the Nanticoke, others were more subtle, like turning a vacant building’s window into a “pop up museum”.
The city can now move forward with their economic development plan with the new recommendations, and start to develop the downtown area to restore it’s history while utilizing new ideas.
