Salisbury man accused of assaulting brother with sledge hammer

A Salisbury man is facing charges, after he apparently attempted to assault his brother with a sledge hammer.
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on Friday, just before 7:00 PM, a Deputy responded to a home on Maple Way in Salisbury, for reports of an altercation. Once on scene, the Deputy says they met with the resident of the home, who stated that 63-year-old Larry Conway, had just assaulted him.
According to the report, the victim believed that Conway went to the Maple Way home of his brother, over a family feud that had apparently reached a boiling point. The victim reportedly told the Deputy that Conway had come into the home, uninvited and armed with a sledge hammer. The two apparently struggled, in an apparent attempt to stop Conway from assaulting the victim with the weapon.
The Deputy also reportedly learned that Conway was shouting that he wanted to kill his brother. Investigators say Conway eventually gave up the fight, and left the home in a rage. Conway also reportedly destroyed the victim’s mailbox with the sledge hammer, before the assault.
The Deputy says they were able to find Conway at his nearby home, and take him into custody. He was then charged with assault first and second degree, home invasion, burglary third degree, and malicious destruction of property. Conway was then ordered to be held at the Wicomico County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
