Rehoboth man arrested for stealing donation box

Police say a 50-year-old man was arrested and charged after he allegedly stole the West Rehoboth Children and Youth donation box from a 7-Eleven store.
According to the Rehoboth Beach Police Department, Craig Beckett was arrested Thursday after police were contacted Wednesday morning by a store employee.
Surveillance video reportedly revealed the incident happened on Monday, February 22 around 7:30 p.m. at the 7-Eleven on Rehoboth Avenue.
Police say the the video showed Beckett wearing a Green Bay Packers jacket and approaching the counter. When the clerk was not looking, Beckett allegedly placed the donation box under his jacket and left the store.
Officers located the suspect at work in Lewes around 8:00 a.m. Thursday before he was taken into custody.
We’re told when he was being taken into custody, a co-worker handed him his jacket which matched the one in the surveillance video.
Police say Beckett consented to an interview, where he confessed to taking the donation box.
He now faces a charge of theft under $1500.00.
Beckett was arraigned and later released. A no contact order was issued between Beckett and the 7-Eleven.
