Ramp for Ryan complete

Habitat for Humanity announced this weekend that they have finished their “Ramp For Ryan” project.

This for Ryan Stevenson, the 30-year-old former E.M.T. and volunteer fire fighter, and also the creator of Wicomico First Alert, who was hit by an alleged drunk driver about 8 months ago, as Stevenson was traveling home from work on Route 50.

The crash left Stevenson paralyzed from the neck down.

So Habitat For Humanity built him a specially designed ramp to access his home.

“Troy, hes our construction supervisor, he has a EMT fireman’s background, and so he reconfigured that ramp so that in the event emergency services need to come through, they can get the gurneys through,” said Molly Hilligoss, executive director for Habitat for Humanity.

Hilligoss adds that now, all they’re waiting for is for Stevenson to come home from the hospital.
