Princess Anne apartment fire ruled accidental

An electrical fire in Princess Anne, caused more than $20,000 in damages to an apartment building.

The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal says around 11:00 AM on Wednesday, a fire started in the second floor apartment of a two story wood frame apartment building on Beckford Avenue.

Officials say twenty firefighters from Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, and had the two alarm blaze under control in about 20 minutes.

No injuries were reported. Damages are estimated to total $21,500.

Investigators say the fire started in the apartment’s bathroom, and has been ruled as accidental, due to electrical malfunction. All of the building’s occupants are apparently being assisted by the Red Cross.
