Poverty a priority for Senate Reps. in second half of Del. Gen. Assembly

On Thursday, 47 ABC checked with Delaware Senate Minority Leader Gary Simpson on where certain goals for Senate Republicans stand at this halfway point in this General Assembly.
When we spoke to him at the start of session, Simpson told us finding a way to properly asses teacher performance and taking action was atop his list. He tells us not as much progress was made on the topic as he would’ve liked to see.
Moving forward, Simpson tells 47 ABC that in the second half of the General Assembly, legislation related to poverty is a priority for Senate Republicans.
“what we can do as a state to lift people out of poverty, to get them off of welfare, into jobs. This is where a lot of our legislation is going to be going for the rest of this session,” said Simpson.
The second half of the 148th General Assembly begins on Tuesday.
