Police: Teen dies after pedestrian crash

Police are investigating after they say a 16-year-old was killed in a pedestrian-involved crash.
According to the Dover Police Department, it happened around 7:58 p.m. Friday near South Dupont Highway at Evergreen Drive. They say the 16-year-old boy was trying to cross the highway on foot when he was struck by a White Chevrolet Impala that was traveling northbound.
Police say there was no crosswalk, intersection, or lighting where he was crossing. The victim was also reportedly wearing all dark clothing.
Corporal Mark Hoffman of the Dover Police Department says it is believed that a black 1990’s model Ford Mustang was also involved in the crash; however, we’re told it may have left the area before police arrived on the scene.
The 16-year-old was transported to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7111. Callers may remain anonymous.
