One killed in single vehicle crash in Laurel

Troopers say they are investigating a crash in Laurel, that took the life of a Delmar man.
Delaware State Police say around 9:40 PM on Tuesday, 34-year-old Scot Adkins was driving a 1995 Honda Odyssey westbound on County Seat Highway – Route 9, coming up to the intersection with Firetower Road. According to the report, for unknown reasons, the Odyssey crossed the eastbound lane and left the roadway, where it collided a tree with its left side.
Police say after the impact the Honda rotated counterclockwise, and overturned before stopping in the middle of the roadway, upright on its wheels. Investigators say Adkins, who was the only person in the vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit is apparently continuing their investigation into this incident. At this time, Police say it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in this case. Route 9 at Firetower Road was closed for about three and a half hours, while the crash was investigated and cleared.
