One injured, home damaged in Salisbury space heater fire

Members of the Salisbury Fire Department and Fruitland Volunteer fire company reportedly responded to a structure fire on Madison Street Saturday morning.

According to Salisbury Fire, they were called to the scene just before 10:30 A.M., and saw heavy smoke coming from the home, all the way up to the attic.

Authorities believe the cause of the fire to be a space heater igniting a mattress.

Fire officials say a the fire was extinguished quickly, and one occupant was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center with minor burns to the hand.
