Ocean City and firefighters still not close to new agreement

An update in the ongoing dispute between the Town of Ocean City and the town’s firefighter’s union. The two sides met Friday during a labor management committee meeting, and the topic of alternative shifts was discussed.

However, town officials say that the discussion was brief and that no headway was made towards a new agreement.

The two sides have been at odds since last week over a contract dispute.
The town wants the firefighters to switch from their current shifts of 24 hours on and 72 hours off, to a new 12 -hour rotating schedule.

This because of fatigue concerns, the Firefighters union says those concerns are unwarranted.
