New Wicomico Superintendent to be chosen Tuesday

A spokeswoman for Wicomico County Public Schools says the next superintendent will be announced Tuesday.

According to a news release sent out Monday, the announcement will come during a special meeting for the board of education Tuesday night at 7:00 PM in the James M. Bennett Auditorium. Officials say the Board of Education will vote on the three candidates. Doctor Cathy Townsend, Doctor Lorenzo Hughes, and Doctor Donna Hanlin.

For the one selected, their term as superintendent will begin in July.

This comes after current Superintendent of Schools doctor John Fredericksen informed the Board last year that he would retire when his second four-year contract ends in June.
