Mardela Springs man arrested on drug charges, after reportedly running from Deputy

Rossie D. Winder, 20, Mardela Springs, Md.

A Mardela Springs man is facing charges, after Police say he was found in a park after hours, and fled from Authorities.

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on Saturday just before 8:50 PM, a Deputy attempted to check on a vehicle that was parked in a county park, after the posted closing time. According to the report, as the Deputy was walking up to the vehicle, it sped past them, and left the park, ignorning the Deputy’s instructions to stop.

The vehicle apparently continued to drive away from the Deputy on Elzey Brown Loop, and drove throughout the neighborhood with the Deputy following, until the vehicle pulled into a driveway.

It was at this point that Investigators say 20-year-old Rossie Winder, jumped out of the car, ran from the Deputy into a home, but couldn’t shut the door before the Deputy made it inside too. The Deputy apparently continued to follow Winder, chasing him through the house and into a bathroom, where Authorities say Winder tried to get rid of multiple individually wrapped baggies of what was identified as marijuana, into a tub.

The Deputy was reportedly able to recover the marijuana from the scene. Winder was taken into custody in the bathroom, and on their way back out to the patrol car, the Deputy picked up a scale for weighing the marijuana that Winder apparently tossed while fleeing.

After his arrest, Winder was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, trespassing, and attempt to flee and elude. After an initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner, Winder was detained in the Wicomico County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
