Hornets Stung By Savannah St.

The Delaware State University men’s basketball team saw their season come to an end on Monday when they fell in the first round of the MEAC Tournament to Savannah St 63-58. The Hornets held a big lead into halftime, but a big run to open the second half gave the Tigers the momentum they would carry for the win.
The Hornets came out of the gates red hot from the field, getting scores from DeAndre Haywood, and Kavon Waller. The lead would swell to double digits after the shots continued to fall from the outside. Todd Hughes stepped in off the bench was able to deliver a lift as well. The Hornets took all the momentum of the game into half, but it was all Tigers to open up the second half. Savannah State went on a 12-3 run to get within a couple points. The teams exchanged buckets down the stretch until the Tigers were able to grab a 3 point lead late. DSU would have a chance to tie, but Devin Morgan would miss a 3 with 10 seconds left. The ball would go out of bounds off a Tiger, giving DSU one last shot, but Aric Dickerson would miss a 3 pointer as well, as the Hornets would be forced to foul.
