Habitat for Humanity begins “stud-a-thon” campaign

The Wicomico County branch of Habitat for Humanity has kicked off their first ever Stud-a-thon campaign.
Officials with Habitat are asking folks to sponsor “studs,” which are 2 X 4 wooden boards, to help build two homes on Coles Circle in Salisbury.
Two local families are waiting in the wings to move in. It takes more than 300 studs to build the frame for each Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County home. Purchasing one of the studs will help lower construction costs.
Shannon Thomas, the development director of the organization, says young families are being targeted for this campaign.
Thomas continues, “Kids are very limited as to what they can do with power tools and things of that nature. Sponsoring a stud gets a bigger variety of the community involved.”
The Stud-a-thon campaign ends on April 20th. Click here for more information on how you can sponsor a stud.
