Fire officials: dogs dead in two Md. fires

Fire crews are investigating after two separate fires kills family dogs and displaces one family, authorities announced Sunday.

The first incident reportedly happened just after 2 p.m. Saturday on the 1000 block of N. West Road in Salisbury.

According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the owner of the home was treated at Peninsula Regional Medical Center for smoke inhalation; however, three small dogs perished in the fire.

The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental, with estimated damages totaling about 80,000 dollars.

The second incident happened just before 11 p.m. Saturday on the 1000 block Nevins Place which displaced a family and killed their dog.

In that incident, authorities say the cause of the fire was unattended cooking and estimated damages are also about 80,000 dollars.
