Equipment failure to blame for high school evacuation

On Thursday morning school administration found a fire alarm going off at Parkside High School, due to smoke in the lower level, from an equipment problem.
Officials with Wicomico County Public Schools say ATEX classes were cancelled and students were held outside under staff supervision while fire department personnel attended to the building. School officials stress at no time were students in the building and once the building was deemed safe by the fire department, some students reported directly to their 1st period classes, while others waited in the auditorium to ensure that the lower level classrooms were ready to occupy.
