Ellendale house fire ruled accidental

A house fire in Ellendale that displaced its occupants, has been ruled as accidental.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office says on Thursday around 11:30 AM, a fire was reported at a home on Main Street. The Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company responded, and found flames showing from the second floor of the two and a half story dwelling. Ellendale VFC, with help from the Milton, and Carlisle fire companies, were able to put out the blaze.
There was apparently no one home at the time of the fire, and no working smoke detectors. No injuries were reported. Officials say the occupants of the moderately damaged home, are now staying with relatives.
Investigators have apparently linked the fire to an accidental electrical malfunction, in the attic of the building. Total damages are estimated at $75,000.
