DSP: Heroin and marijuana grow operation found following Dover traffic stop

A traffic stop in Dover, apparently led to the discovery of nearly 300 bags of heroin, and a marijuana grow operation, and put one man behind bars.
Delaware State Police say on Tuesday around 5:10 PM, Troopers and Probation and Parole Officers assigned to the Kent County Governor’s Task Force pulled over a maroon Chevrolet Malibu, near the Puncheon Run Connector on Route 13, for an equipment violation and unsafe lane change. During the stop, Troopers say they spoke with the driver, 24-year-old Chad Prouse, and noticed drug paraphernalia in the center console near the gear shift.
Police say they then asked Prouse to get out of the car, and patted him down, during which they found a bundle of 13 bags of heroin in his coat pocket, and more than $470 in suspected drug proceeds. Investigators then searched the car, and say they found marijuana, an additional $50 in suspected drug proceeds, and a loaded 9mm handgun that was in between the driver’s seat and the console.
Detectives say they then searched Prouse’s Lochmeath Way home with a warrant, and found 293 bags of heroin totaling 4.395 grams, 3.68 grams of MDMA – Ecstasy, 12.58 grams of marijuana, 27 Suboxone strips, various rounds of ammunition, an 18″ machete, and a marijuana grow operation which included lamps and fans, inside of a television cabinet.
Prouse was then charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of a controlled substance – heroin, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person who also possesses controlled substances, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession with intent to deliver ecstasy, possession with intent to deliver suboxone, possession of drug paraphernalia, and various other drug and traffic related offenses.
He was later ordered to be held at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a $82,304 secured bond.
