Dover traffic stop leads to arrest of two and seizure of counterfeit drugs

Andre Owens, 41, and Jason Westley, 38, both of Dover, Del.

Two Dover men were arrested on counterfeit drug, and weapons charges, during a Dover traffic stop.

Dover Police say on Thursday evening, around 7:10 PM, Officers stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of the Urban Furniture Outlet, on North DuPont Highway. During the stop, Police say the Officers met with 41-year-old Andre Owens, and 38-year-old Jason Westley, who were in the vehicle, and noticed that Owens was trying to hide a large bag of suspected crack cocaine.

According to the report, the Officers had both men get out of the car, before they searched it, during which they say they found 57.6 grams of counterfeit crack cocaine, packaged for resale. Police say they also found a loaded 9mm Glock 43 handgun in Westley’s waistband, that had apparently been reported stolen, back in January. Westley and Owens were then both taken into custody.

Westley was charged with two counts of possession of firearm/ammunition by person prohibited, carry concealed deadly weapon, and receiving stolen firearm. He is now being held at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a $26,000 bond.

Owens was charged with possession with intent to deliver counterfeit substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of counterfeit controlled substance, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was ordered to be held at JTVCC on an administrative warrant, and a cash bond.
