Denton house fire causes $275K in damages

A house fire in Denton that caused more than $200,000 in damages, has been ruled accidental.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the fire was discovered by the homeowner just before 4:30 AM on Tuesday, in the basement of their two story home on South Seventh Street.

According to the report, fifty firefighters from the Denton Volunteer Fire Company responded to the two alarm blaze, which then took two hours to control. The three people and two dogs inside, were apparently able to get. No injuries were reported.

Investigators say the fire started in the basement of the home, and was accidental in nature, caused by an unknown electrical failure. Damages are estimated to total $275,000.
