DelDOT at full staff for Friday’s winter storm

The Delaware Department of Transportation says they have crews out in full force, to deal with the snowy conditions.
Officials say crews are at full strength Friday morning, statewide, with snow continuing to fall Friday morning. Crews were out on Wednesday and Thursday, applying a brine solution to roadways, and Officials say that kept roads in a mostly wet condition in northern and central Delaware. Snow accumulation is apparently occurring on mostly rural pavements in parts of Sussex County.
DelDOT says they are expecting roads to be slushy and may be slick in places for the morning commute. DelDOT says they will be monitoring roads, applying salt where needed, and plowing when necessary, but they are asking drivers to remember elevated surfaces may still be susceptible to freezing, so drivers should use caution.
Officials are also warning drivers to be alert to the presence of snow removal equipment on the roads and keep a safe distance of several car lengths behind trucks or tankers that may salting or spraying roads with brine. Passing snow plows and salt trucks is never a good idea and should be avoided, according to Officials.
