Delaware launches distracted driving campaign

Officials in Delaware are cracking down on distracted driving through a campaign launched by the Office of Highway Safety.
According to their Community Relations Officer Lisa Flowers, Delaware’s crash data associated with distracted driving is the highest during the month of March. This reason why is unknown.
OHS has partnered with the state police and thirteen other municipalities. They’ve given them just over $15,000 to launch a series of statewide patrols targeting drivers who are distracted. There’s an emphasis on cell phones.
Flowers says, “We recognize that the cell phone is not only being used for phone calls, but for social media as well. Ongoing enforcement and education is a big part of having change within our state.”
The statewide high visibility police patrol campaign will last through March 17th.
