Coastal Highway resurfacing project set to begin

The Maryland State Highway Administration has announced they will begin a Coastal Highway resurfacing project in mid March. Officials tell 47ABC the resurfacing will occur from the Delaware state line along the Coastal Highway down to 60th St. in Ocean City.
The project will reportedly cost just under $3.5 million dollars, and officials say it will make for a smoother and safer ride for drivers. Motorists, however will not be the only beneficiaries, Charlie Gischlar, spokesman for the SHA says pedestrians and cyclists will also benefit. He says the most prominent feature of the nearly 5 mile long project might be the striping, with dedicated bike lanes and marked crosswalks every four blocks.
Officials say the project is expected to be completed before Memorial Day Weekend.
