Brittingham, Nixon Pace South Past North in Annual All-Star Game

Tuesday night, seniors basketball from across the shore got to represent their schools for one final time in this years Bayside All-Star game. The North would come out of the gates and grab an early lead, but 26 points from Decatur’s Torrey Brittingham would lead the South back for a 113-106 win.

The North came out red hot from down town. Queen Anne’s Cassius Warren hit a couple from down town, followed by one from North Caroline Juanye’ Pinkett and Saint Michael’s Brandon Kerrigan. They were up double digits, but the South came storming back. Tyler Nixon would get out in transition for a couple easy scores. Then once in a half court set, Torrey Brittingham would get going. He continually got to the rim for scores as they pulled even with the North and eventually took the lead. Once shots began to drop, they seemingly all started falling in for the South who got 7 straight points from Mardela’s Caleb Corbin, followed by back to back 3’s from Pocomoke’s LiCurtis Whitney. Pocomoke’s Leander Roberts would provide the exclamation mark with a big dunk just before the end of the first half. The North would go on a run in the second half sparked by Queen Anne’s Juwan Moore and Kent Island’s Ben Young who were both able to get some buckets down low. But Brittingham continued to have the hot hand, and was able to close it out late for the win.
