Blazing Start Powers South Past North In Girls All-Star Game

Several of the top players from across the shore got to lace them up one more time, representing their high schools as they took part in the annual Bayside Senior All-Star game Tuesday night. The South opened the game on a 21-0 run and ran away with the game early on for a 101-47 win.

The South couldn’t have asked for a better start. Pocomoke’s Dynaisha Christian was scoring at will on the block, while Decatur’s Dayona Godwin and Mardela’s Taylor Ross were able to get out in transition and add scores as well. In an blink of an eye, the lead swelled to over twenty pointed before the North finally got going. Easton’s Kaiya Hudson would add the first score by getting out in transition. Then once she added a couple more scores, Colonel Richardson’s Jazmine Brooks would knock down several jumpers as she got a hand. She would help her team get back within 15, but that’s as close as they would get. Crisfield’s Crystal Merritt would connect on a couple jumpers, followed several nice plays from Pocomoke’s Shayla Jones. Late in the 4th, the South would realize they could reach 100 points and turned up the pressure. Godwin and Ross connected on three’s, and then with seconds left, Christian would score a lay in for the final of her game high 25 points to help the South eclipse the century mark.
