Bald eagle deaths still unsolved

A handful of dead bald eagles in Dagsboro, Del. over the weekend, and over a dozen dead bald eagles earlier this month in Federalsburg, Md., but as now the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service says they don’t believe they are related.
Delaware authorities said the five eagles that died over the weekend were either dead on the scene, or died during the rescue process.
47 ABC is told that when police arrived on the scene the eagles appeared lethargic and disoriented.
Right now, no cause of death is known for those eagles.
Blood work from the deceased birds has been sent out and police say they expect the results to take several days.
Authorities say their concern right now, is making sure more bald eagles don’t die.
“If there’s something environmentally out there we want to make sure we can figure out what it is, narrow it down, get it cleaned up and taken care of so we don’t have additional eagles that are affected,” Sgt. John McDerby of the Delaware Fish and Wildlife Natural Resources police.
McDerby said police are also asking for public help in investigating these deaths.
McDerby said if you see any bald eagles that appear to be sick or if you know anything related to the recent deaths to call Delaware’s 24 hour Operation Game Theft hotline at 1-800-292-3030.
