Arrest made in Wicomico County home invasion and assault

Jose Martinez, 34, of Salisbury, Md.

A Salisbury man is now facing multiple charges, after authorities say he broke into a house, and assaulted his ex-girlfriend with a knife.

On Sunday, just after 3 AM a deputy responded to a home on Eden Street, in Salisbury for a reported disturbance.

Once on scene, the deputy met with a female victim who told the deputy that her ex-boyfriend, 34-year-old, Jose Martinez, came to the residence uninvited and forced his way into her house.

According to the records, Martinez followed her into a bedroom uninvited, while waving a knife.

Records also add, that Martinez began slashing at her with the knife as well as slashed her mattress and bedding.

Martinez fled from the residence before the authorities could arrive.

During the investigation, the deputy says they saw evidence of the slashing in the clothes that the victim was wearing which corroborated her account.

Authorities say a warrant for Martinez’ arrest was then issued. Following his arrest on Monday, Martinez was charged with the following; home invasion, burglary in the first degree, assault, both in the first degree, dangerous weapon, reckless endangerment, and malicious destruction of property.

Martinez was then processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Martinez in lieu of $35,000 bond.
