Appoquinimink School Dist. teacher charged with sex abuse of student

Members of the Delaware State Police say they have arrested Nicole Veneroso, 32, a music teacher at Everett Meredith Middle School, after investigators discovered she was sending sexually explicit images to a male student.
According to State Police, in January, the mother of a 13-year-old male student contacted administrators after she found sexually explicit video and images of a female teacher on his phone.
After the administrators contacted authorities, the DSP Troop 2 Youth Aide Unit conducted an investigation. Troopers say through multiple interviews and examination of physical evidence, Veneroso had apparently begun a relationship with the student in December 2015. Police say during the relationship, which continued until the discovery of the images, Veneroso had sent the student numerous sexually explicit photographs, videos, and text messages.
Troopers say Veneroso was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon at Troop 2. She was charged with Dealing in Child Porn, Sexual Solicitation of a Child under 18, second-degree Criminal Solicitation, five counts of Providing Obscenity to a Child under 18, three counts of second degree Sexual Abuse of a Child by a Person of Trust, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Veneroso was arraigned at JP Court 2 and committed to the Delores Baylor Correctional Institution in default of $53,250 secured bail.
Police could not comment on Veneroso’s employment in the Appoquinimink School District, however there are reports that she has been suspended from the district since late January.
