Abandoned car leads to stolen weapons and drug charges for Dover man

A 25-year-old Dover man is facing a slew of drug and weapons charges, after Police say his fingerprints and tax forms were found inside of an abandoned car, in February, that had three stolen guns inside.
The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit in Kent County says back on the morning of February 5, Troopers responded to reports of an abandoned silver Audi passenger car blocking the travel lanes at the intersection of South Governors Boulevard and Senator Avenue in the Capitol Park development.
When Troopers arrived, they noticed a firearm in plain view, and towed the vehicle back to Troop 3, where it was searched with a warrant. Inside, Investigators say they found a Sig Sauer .40 handgun that was reported stolen to the Philadelphia Police Department back in April of 2015, a Glock .357 handgun that was reported stolen to the Maryland State Police back in November of 2013, an Iberia Firearms brand .40 caliber handgun that was reported stolen to the New Castle County Police back in September of 2015, and a HS Product brand 9mm handgun. Police say they also found paperwork, a W-2 form, with Terrance Trotman’s name and address inside the vehicle, as well as a latent fingerprint impression that was verified through the State Bureau of Identification, located on one of the handguns.
On Thursday, the Troop 3 Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation, and got a warrant for Trotman’s arrest for four counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and three counts of receiving a stolen firearm, along with search warrants for a home on State Circle Boulevard and another South Governors Boulevard. On Friday morning around 6:00 AM, with help from the Kent County Drug Task Force, Kent County Governors Task Force, and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, Troopers searched the residences.
At the State Circle home, they arrested Trotman, and say they found 454 bags of heroin weighing 6.81 grams, 6.83 grams of crack cocaine, 4.96 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and over $430 in suspected drug proceeds. At the South Governors Boulevard property, Detectives say they found 37 bags of heroin weighing .555 grams, and a .22 caliber rifle, along with a black Dodge Durango that was disabled in the back of the property, owned by Trotman.
The SUV was then towed to Troop 3, where it was searched with a warrant, after Police say they saw a firearm in plain view. During that search, Investigators say they found .556 caliber assault rifle, a .762 caliber assault rifle, a 9mm handgun, multiple rounds of various ammunition, 80.90 grams of raw heroin in a plastic bag, and over $5,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
In addition to the initial offenses, Trotman was charges with three counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of heroin, two counts of possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of cocaine, eleven counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number, endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Trotman is now incarcerated at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on a $576,000 cash bond.
