15 individuals arrested in Queen Anne’s Co. drug busts

Members of the Maryland State Police say 15 people were arrested in connection to four separate drug trafficking organizations in Queen Anne’s County.

Troopers say each of the busts are believed to have been heavily involved in the distribution of heroin, cocaine, and prescription pills.

Police reportedly served 28 separate search warrants with 31 indictments on 15 individuals, leading to the arrests.

Those arrested and charged are identified as:

Donald Dwight Hughes, 62, of Queenstown, MD
Michael Nathaniel Reives, 43, of Grasonville, MD
Michael Gerald Henderson, 57, of Chester, MD

According to State Police, all 15 people are criminally charged on multiple counts of possession with the intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances. Police say Each of the suspects faces sentencing to include multiple years of imprisonment and thousands of dollars in fines.

During the arrests, troopers say they recovered $33,500 of U.S. currency, 16 vehicles six firearms, a bullet proof vest, over 530 grams of marijuana, almost 400 grams of cocaine, 16 grams of heroin and 228 Oxycodone pills.

State Police say the Queen Anne’s County Drug Task Force began the intense investigation in January 2016, after investigators developed information indicating several distinct drug trafficking organizations were operating in the area, reportedly for over a decade.

Authorities say task force investigators believe some of the individuals arrested operated businesses in the area to provide a cover for the illegal activities.

Law enforcement involved include: Maryland State Police: Centreville Barrack, State Apprehension Team, Criminal Enforcement Division, and Special Operations Division K-9 Unit, Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, Centreville Police Department, Maryland Natural Resources Police, Queen Anne’s County States Attorney Office, Queen Anne’s County Drug Task Force, Talbot County Drug Task Force, and the Kent County Narcotics Task Force.

This investigation is continuing with further arrests pending, police say.
