UPDATE: Truck of missing Dover airman located by C&D Canal

Senior Airman Keifer Huhman, Dover Air Force Base

Police in Dover say they have joined forces with the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations, in search of a missing airman.

Dover Police say Senior Airman Keifer Huhman didn’t report for duty on February 8th, prompting a missing persons investigation. Huhman was apparently last seen on Sunday around 6 or 6:30PM, leaving his home in Blue Hen Apartments, in Dover, driving a blue 1997 Ford Ranger with Florida tags.

On Wednesday, the family of Keifer Huhman filed a missing person’s report with the Dover Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit, and since then Detectives have worked closely with DAFB authorities on this case. Dover Police say they have been assisted by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, and conducted an extensive aerial search throughout Kent County for the truck that Huhman was last seen in.

During the aerial search, Detectives say they learned that the truck was towed by the Delaware State Police from the shoulder of the William V. Roth, Jr. Bridge, which spans the C&D Canal, on Sunday night around 10:00 PM. That prompted an aerial search of the canal and surrounding areas, along a search via maritime units from Delaware State Police, and Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. The truck is reportedly being processed for evidence by the Dover Police Department.

Police say, despite the discovery of the truck and its location, they, along with DAFB Office of Special Investigations, are continuing the investigation as a missing person’s case, with assistance from the Delaware State Police and DNREC Police.

Anyone with information about this case, is asked to call the Dover Police Department at 302-736-7130, or your local law enforcement agency.
