UPDATE: Somerset Co. officials weigh in on Wednesday storms

Contrary to an initial report, 47 ABC has learned that no one was evacuated from the Crisfield Police Department.

An original report from an individual from Somerset County Emergency Services indicated that the Crisfield Police Department had been evacuated, due to the safety of the building possibly not being safe for workers in severe weather.

47 ABC reached out to Chief Michael Tabor who says the report is not true and the building was never evacuated.

The Crisfield Mayor, Kim Lawson, says they are investigating a possible touchdown about two and a half miles south of the City, but nothing has been confirmed at this time. Lawson says Emergency Services checked it out, and found no damages, and they believe that it dissipated as it attempted to touchdown. He advises to be safe if venturing out, as heavy rains have swept through the area.

A tornado warning was issued for Somerset County, Dorchester County, Wicomico County, and Northwestern Accomack County, until 5:30 PM EST.

This dangerous storm will be near Princess Anne and University of Maryland Eastern Shore around 5:15 PM EST and Fruitland and Salisbury University around 5:25 PM EST.

No word yet on any damages. Stay tuned to 47 ABC and 47ABC.com for the latest. Check out the 47 ABC weather page for details.
