UPDATE: Snow emergency plans lifted in Worcester and Wicomico Co.

Authorities around Delmarva are urging residents to stay off the road, as snow is making for bad road conditions.
Virginia State Police say they have responded to 538 crashes statewide, since midnight, and 347 disabled vehicles. In the Chesapeake Division, which includes Hampton Roads, Tidewater, Eastern Shore, Williamsburg, Franklin, and Emporia, Troopers have responded to 126 crashes, and 32 disabled vehicles. Drivers are also advised by Authorities not to call 911 or #77 to find out about road conditions, as these phone lines must remain clear for real emergencies. Instead, drivers should call 511 for road conditions or visit the 511 website.
State Police also offered the following tips for driving in these conditions.
- Clear off all snow from your vehicle – windows, roof, trunk and lights
- Add extra time to reach travel destination
- Slow speed for road conditions
- Increase driving distances between vehicles for increased stopping distance
- Buckle up and don’t drive distracted
- MOVE OVER for all stopped emergency vehicles, highway vehicles and tow trucks.
Maryland State Police at the Berlin and Salisbury Barracks, along with the Town of Easton, have lifted their Snow Emergency Plan, in conjunction with local agencies, and the State Highway Administration. The plan was put in place Monday morning. While in effect, all vehicles on the roadway must be equipped with snow chains or snow tires, and a parking ban is imposed on all snow emergency routes in the County.
Authorities are still asking drivers to be careful when on the roads, and leave plenty of time for travel. Law enforcement also advises that drivers should keep and eye out for slick spots, and keep a safe distance from the car in front of you. Motorists who need help, can dial 911 or #77 for assistance.
Maryland State Highway Administration says that they are continuing to monitor the area. Their Princess Anne shop is apparently reporting six inches of snow, just before 10:00 AM. They say crews are continuing to salt and plow roadways, but the cold weather from the weekend, has left some areas icy. SHA says crews will to continue to salt and plow as necessary throughout the day. According to the SHA, they have nearly 1,900 pieces of equipment in service on the Eastern Shore, including about 230 trucks, plows, loaders, etc..
Delaware’s Department of Transportation is warning drivers that their ride home, could be snowy, and dangerous. They are asking drivers to take their time, and use caution, as snow, sleet, and freezing rain coat roadways. Officials say crews are out plowing and treating roads.
