UPDATE: Fatal crash under investigation in Milton

Members of the Delaware State Police say a 71-year-old woman was killed following a crash at the intersection of Sand Hill Road and Gravel Hill Road Monday afternoon.
Troopers say the woman was operating her Oldsmobile Alero stopped at a flashing red light, when for an unknown reason she pulled into the intersection, and was struck by an oncoming SUV that faced a flashing yellow light.
According to State Police, the driver of the SUV applied the brakes, but was unable to avoid striking the driver’s side of the Alero.
Officials say the woman was properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of family.
Troopers say the driver of the SUV was transported by EMS to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, and was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and State Police say the intersection at Sand Hill Road was closed for approximately two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
