Two arrested on drug charges during Hurlock traffic stop

19-year-old Edward Burns, of Federalsburg, and 27-year-old Michael Taylor Jr. of East New Market, Md.

Two men are facing charges, after Police say drugs were found during a traffic stop in Hurlock.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office says on February 11, a Deputy noticed a vehicle driving in what they call an unusual manner, in the town of Hurlock, and pulled it over. During the stop, Deputies say they smelled marijuana, which prompted a K-9 scan of the vehicle.

The K-9 apparently alerted to the presence of an illegal substance, and a search reportedly revealed a box with 513 grams of marijuana in the trunk. Authorities say they then arrested the two occupants, 19-year-old Edward Burns, of Federalsburg, and 27-year-old Michael Taylor Jr. of East New Market.

Both were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Taylor, the driver, was ordered to be held on a $15,000 bond, while Burns was held on a $10,000 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office says they were assisted by the Hurlock Police Department, Maryland State Police and Dorchester County Narcotics Task Force.
