Tire plant supervisor accused of pulling gun on employees in Dorchester County

Ryan Walsh, 35, of Seaford, Del.

A plant worker in Dorchester County is facing charges, after investigators say he pulled a gun on his employees.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office says on Thursday authorities responded to the McCarthy Tire Plant, on Williamsburg Road, in Federalsburg, for reports of a man with a gun.

Once on scene, Investigators say they found that a supervisor at the plant, 35-year-old Ryan Walsh, of Seaford, Delaware, was unhappy with the production of the employees. He then apparently called a meeting, and when the employees were walking past his office, Deputies say he pulled a 9mm semi-automatic pistol out, cocked the hammer, and waved it around in an attempt to intimidate the employee.

The gun was apparently eventually taken from Walsh, by the plant supervisor, who turned it over to the Deputies when they arrived. The pistol was apparently loaded during the ordeal.

Walsh was then arrested, and charged with two counts of first degree assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, two counts of second degree assault, and wearing and carrying a concealed weapon. He was then ordered to be held on a $50,000 bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.

The Sheriff’s Office says there were assisted by the Hurlock Police Department and the Federalsburg Police Department.
