State and Defense rest in day three of Daequan White trial

Detective Sergeant Chasity Blades of the Maryland State Police Department is the lead investigator on the Daequan White case. She was the state’s last witness to testify on Wednesday.
She explained that when White was taken into police custody, he said he didn’t know James Skinner. Skinner was shot and killed in a home invasion last May.
However, White apparently said he knew Skinner’s so- called “step siblings.” One of those individuals was the 13- year- old girl who witnessed the home invasion. Authorities say that girl eventually picked White out of a photo lineup.
Apparently during the interview with Detective Sergeant Blades, White also said, “Even if I was there and I’m not the killer, my life is done.” He apparently also said, “If I did it. I would be out of town. That’s where the rest of them are, aren’t they?”
One of the Defense’ witnesses of note on Wednesday was a 19-year-old girl who was apparently with White the night of deadly home invasion.
In the courtroom she said she saw White, who was apparently drunk at the time; fall asleep in a bedroom at a mutual friend’s house.
She said she slept in that same room and never saw him leave. However, the state brought out a transcript from a previous conversation this witness had with police where she said, “I ain’t sure if he was there the whole night.”
This witness hesitated for long periods of time after questions asked by both the state and the defense. She said on the stand Wednesday in reference to the case, “I don’t want to be involved.”
The state and defense will begin their closing statements on Thursday at 9 a.m.
