Somerset County considers contractors for Sandy-related repairs

It may have been more than three years ago, but the city of Crisfield is still suffering from damage caused by Hurricane Sandy.
Somerset County’s planning director is Gary Pusey. He made two bid openings to the board of county commissioners on Tuesday. One was for a street resurfacing project. The other was to repair the bulkhead down by the city dock.
Crisfield received federal funding for Sandy related repairs. $1.3 million has been allocated for the streets, while $400,000 has been put aside for the bulkhead.
The county advertised for contractors to take on the projects. Two proposals were made to fix the streets and two for the bulkhead. They were presented to the commission today.
Pusey says, “Our consultants are going to review those proposals and make sure they addressed everything in our request. We’ll come back to the commissioners in a couple of weeks and make a recommendation for who should get that job.”
Pusey believes the bulkhead and street repairs should be finished by mid-July. The streets include Wynfall Avenue, Myrtle Street, Broadway, 4th Street, 7th Street and Maple Street.
