Rhodesdale pair arrested on Valentine’s Day on theft charges

30-year-old James Eugene Simms, and 28-year-old Stephanie Marie Trippett, of 5747 Eldorado Road, Rhodesdale, Md.

Two people were arrested on Valentine’s Day, after law enforcement linked both to thefts in the area.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office says on February 14, they arrested 30-year-old James Simms, and 28-year-old Stephanie Trippett, both of Rhodesdale.

Investigators say Simms was wanted for two counts of failure to appear in Wicomico County, one count in Talbot County, and one in Caroline County, along with his involvement in a burglary and theft at the Cambridge Wal-Mart. Trippett was wanted for theft from the Fruitland Wal-Mart, and her involvement in the Cambridge Wal-Mart incident.

After his arrest, Simms was charged with 4 counts of failure to appear, along with fourth degree burglary, theft under $100, and theft under $1,000. He was ordered to be held on a $29,000 bond.

Trippett was charged with 2 counts of theft under $1,000, and fourth degree burglary, and ordered to be held on a $8,500 bond.
