Rehoboth takes the plunge

It may be February, but that did not stop people from jumping, or plunging, in to the Atlantic Ocean Sunday afternoon at the Lewes Polar Bear Plunge.
The 25th annual special olympics Delaware Polar Bear Plunge saw 3,500 people take the plunge and in the process raised a record $820,000.
More than $9 million has been raised in the event’s history.
After the plunge 47 ABC was able to catch up with two veteran plungers who told us what the worst part was and how they plan to warm up
“Going in, it’s the anticipation of going in which is the hardest. Once you’re going in, it’s not all that bad,” said Michael Marquis, who’s been participating for over 10 years.
As for how him and his friend planned to warm-up.
“I usually use a little 12 year old single malt scotch,” said Stanley Kotowski.
Marquis added that Kotowski would share some of that with him as well.
Between Kotowski andMarquis, they say they have over 30 years of experience when it comes to this event.
Marquis says this year wasn’t so bad.
The coldest plunge in his memory was 1999.
