Police: 3 held at gun-point during home invasion

Three people were held at gun-point during what police are calling a targeted home invasion, authorities announced Sunday.

According to Delaware State Police, it happened around 11:15 p.m. Saturday on the 4000 block of Rhode Island Drive in the Eagle Meadows development.

We’re told a 22-year-old woman answered the door after hearing a knock and was confronted by two male suspects. They allegedly displayed unknown-type handguns.

Police say the two men forced their way into the house and held the victim, as well as another woman and man at gun point. During this time, police say the suspects let another man in the house through a rear door.

Corporal Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police says the three men demanded the victims’ money. We’re told the woman who answered the door was pistol-whipped across the face when she said there was none.

The suspects then allegedly removed all three of the victims’ cell phones and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing out of the front door in an unknown direction.

Corporal Fournier tells 47ABC, the woman who answered door ran to a nearby relative’s home and was later treated at an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  The other woman remained at the house and called 911. We’re told the male victim, whose identity was not readily known, fled the home and has yet to be interviewed by detectives.

Police describe all three suspects as black males, between 16-22 years old. One suspect was reportedly wearing a black mask, black jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, black gloves, and armed with an unknown type handgun.

Authorities say the second suspect was last seen wearing a black scarf around his face, a black hooded sweatshirt, black jeans, gloves, white sneakers, and armed with an unknown type handgun.

The third suspect was wearing a black scarf around his face, a black hooded sweatshirt, and light colored jeans. He was not reported to be armed.

Corporal Fournier says detectives have determined through preliminary interviews and investigation that this was not a random act and believe the victims may have been targeted in the home invasion.
