Pa. man accused of fleeing from Police in Easton, before crashing

A Pennsylvania man has been charged, after Police say he fled from Officers, and crashed.

Easton Police say on Sunday night around 9:30 PM, Officers were working on a DUI Saturation Patrol on Route 50 near High Street. Police say a white Hyundai didn’t move to the right lane while passing an emergency vehicle that was on the side for a traffic stop.

Officers say they tried to stop the Hyundai near Pines on Ocean Gateway, but the vehicle kept driving east on Route 50, even attempting to pull into the shoulder at one point, but then deciding to speed up instead. The Hyundai eventually merged onto northbound onto the Easton Bypass, where it sped up even more, and turned off its lights.

Police say as they were following, they watched the vehicle crash near South Washington Street. Officers say they then met with the driver, 45-year-old Michael Herbert, of Norristown, Pennsylvania, and two passengers, 21-year-old Deja Unique Gibson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and 22-year-old Samantha Miller, of Trappe, at the scene.

An investigation reportedly revealed that there was alcohol in the car, along with suspected marijuana. Herbert was then charged with traffic violations for failure to change lanes for stopped emergency vehicle, turning off lights to avoid Identification, fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, negligent driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol and driving while so impaired by drugs, and alcohol incapable of driving a vehicle safely, and released on his signature.

Gibson and Miller were issued citations for possession of marijuana under 10 grams, and released on their signatures.
